News - whats happening with White Heather

August 2007 - The last of the fabulous sails have arrived from Steve at North Sea Sails on the East Coast - the quality of his work is fantastic and the sails a work of art.

I recently had my first opportunity to sail the boat with all four of her new sails set and drawing with a perfect breeze.

May 2007 - After 18 years of ownership and with the amazingly generous support of the Manx Heritage Foundation White Heather has finally been given back her crowning glory, her standing lug ‘Nobby’ rig.

Originally built as a pure sailing boat with standing lugsails on two masts together with jib and staysail she was gradually deprived of her rig as she had an engine installed and became more and more a motor fishing boat.

On conversion to a pleasure boat in the 70’s a makeshift rig formed of second hand sails and modified telegraph poles formed her primary motive power - now she will have a co-ordinated rig properly working as a unit. The prospect is very exciting.
